Jessica is a Solicitor and joined Family Law Group in July 2019. She works out of the Derby office and specialises in private and public law children matters and domestic violence cases. Jessica can also assist clients who qualify for Legal Aid.
Having achieved a 2:1 in her law degree at Sheffield Hallam University, Jessica went on to achieve her Legal Practice Course whilst working at a law firm gaining experience across a number of different areas of law. Jessica soon decided that she wanted to specialise in the area of family law and joined Family Law Group in order to work alongside like-minded people in the area of law that she is passionate about.
She says that it provides her with; “the opportunity to help clients and provide them with the knowledge and expertise in areas where they cannot help themselves.” She really thrives on a challenge and finding solutions for clients, whilst acting in their best interest.
Jessica is dedicated to achieving the best outcome for her clients and does this by active listening to identify the issues that need to be resolved and then acting efficiently to solve them in the best way possible. She has a calm, approachable and confident manner, which is great for when she is representing clients in Court and can make complex legal advice a lot clearer for clients.
To gain further legal experience, Jessica is a member of the Nottingham Junior Lawyer Division and is the Events Secretary for their members committee. This means that she is directly involved in organising a lot of events for junior lawyers throughout Nottinghamshire. Jessica is also on the Law Society’s Equality and Diversity committee in Nottingham and her role on this committee is to look at ways to improve these areas within the legal profession.
On a personal level, Jessica says that she enjoys the varied work that the legal profession provides as no case is ever the same and it provides the chance to continuously learn. She also enjoys attending Court to conduct her own advocacy. This element of her role means that she can put a client’s argument across in the concise way that will help them, as they would not be able to do it themselves.
Outside of her career, Jessica likes to travel across the globe. She has previously worked in an American law firm undertaking prison law and also Asia, where she taught English for a charity. Jessica also spends a lot of her time doing yoga and running up to 10 km distance to keep fit.
Jessica speaks three languages including Spanish and German.

Got great help and advice
Hi Jessica, I just wanted to extend my thanks for yesterday. I know there is still a little bit to go for access to [my child] but yesterday was a massive weight lifted of my shoulders and I definitely could not have done it without your knowledge and expertise. Once again thank you.
I have been represented by Jessica Silvers from the Nottingham office for just over 12 months and she has guided me through some extremely difficult times with empathy, care and unbelievable professionalism. She did such a brilliant job and is a real asset to your team. Her approach was calm, confident and assuring - which is exactly what I needed in the circumstances. Her advice was always clear and comprehensive and I really appreciated that.
You have been absolutely brilliant and professional. I have had no issues with the service or communications. I would also like to thank Catriona. Thanks for all your help!
